Contis Film Festival

Founded in 1996 by Betty Berr and Rainer Wothe, a Franco-German couple, the Contis Film Festival takes place in Contis-Plage on the commune of Saint-Julien-en-Born (40 - Landes). A place of creation, reflection, and distribution, it has successfully balanced popular fervor and artistic rigor by bringing together professionals, cinephiles, and the simply curious each year to share the same love for art in general and cinema in particular. Strengthened by European partnerships developed over the years, and while promoting cultural diversity, the festival has discovered now-established talents and offered a bold and sometimes defiant program, but always connected with reality. In 2021, Betty and Rainer handed over the festival keys to their team, which had been with them for several years. Our new association, Contis Culture et Cinéma, was then created to continue organizing the festival and to enhance its year-round impact on the territory.

In 2024, the Contis Festival engages with primary school students, middle schoolers, and the Côte Landes Nature youth network. Workshops to raise awareness among young people in the territory, as well as public screenings during the Short Film Festival.

Tapages & Nocturnes, as a partner of this festival, awarded the audience prize to 'PLEURE PAS GABRIEL' by Mathilde Chavanne.

Congratulations are also due to 'APRÈS L'AURORE' by Yohann Kouam, which won the Grand Jury Prize.
